Proximetry and V2COM Team to Provide Smart Energy Solutions in South and Latin America

SAN DIEGO; Feb. 3, 2015 – V2COM, a leading systems integrator and developer of smart grid systems, and Proximetry, the innovative device and performance management platform provider for the Internet of Things (IoT), have partnered to bring modular device management to South and Latin American utilities. The companies announced their new collaboration and will demonstrate it at DistribuTECH where Proximetry is exhibiting (booth 3805).

V2COM is providing systems integration using Proximetry’s AirSyncTM 5, enabling their utility customers to recover their capital investments from their smart grid networks much faster. The AirSync 5 V2COM Device Management Software is a fully-integrated management platform that delivers scalable, secure and exception-based device management tuned for today’s innovative, new embedded computing solutions.

“The utility market is ready for AirSync 5 which offers unparalleled scalability, ease of use and enables fast integration with other utility systems” said Guilherme Spina, V2COM President and CEO. “To utilities who manage heterogeneous networks, this means faster deployment and reliable, low-cost management”.

The joint, cloud-based solution configures devices to be sensitive to their environment and to manage typical smart grid network and device constraints. These include constrained network (low data rate, low power), constrained power consumption (battery operated sleepy devices vs. mainline powered “always on”) and constrained processing with small memory footprint for both RAM and Flash. The Proximetry and V2COM collaboration also includes localization of the AirSync platform to meet specific regional requirements. The resulting solution provides devices with the knowledge to find, see and monitor available network and application services via WiFi, cellular, wired and wireless mesh networks.

It can support devices from small battery-operated meters to large base stations and be integrated with legacy devices in the utility ecosystem. No other device management solution offers this kind of scale.

“Our partnership with V2COM enhances the performance of its world-class smart grid solutions by reliably solving challenges common to global utility and smart energy networks around the world,” said Tracy Trent, Proximetry CEO. “The opportunity to partner with a market leader like V2COM in Latin and South America is helping us drive the AirSync vision forward in many new and interesting market applications.”
